Synergy for Change

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the  ConnectEd 2017  conference this week, and certainly enjoyable to see so many wonderful people in my PLN face to face for conversations.

A personal highlight included the opportunity to present two different sessions with  Jamie Reaburn Weir.  In this post, I am sharing the resources we prepared for this Dell sponsored session which focused on setting a context  for tackling barriers for change.

Note:  This video was prepared from the  Livestream  archive.

Going 1 to 1 Panel Discussion

Last week I had the privilege of attending the 2017 Educational Technology Strategy Summit to share the WRDSB “going 1:1” journey in a panel discussion presentation.

The discussion was moderated by teacher  Andrew Bieronski.  I was joined on the panel by  Ed Doadt (Principal),  Jamie Reaburn (teacher), students Tara and Brooke.

The discussion was well received, noting that there were many positive comments about the journey, the sharing of research and observations and including student voices in the session.

Have a listen:

Coding with Spheros

Tuesday night I had an opportunity to support WRDSB teachers Scott McKenzie and Megan Lowe at their Coding with Spheros workshop. I appreciate their willingness to share their learning and workshop materials openly through a live streaming broadcast and video recording. The workshop provided a solid instructional framework for curriculum context, activities, problem solving and collaboration.

This version of the video is the presentation portion of the workshop (35 minutes). Markers have been placed in the video to highlight the sub topics.

This version of the video includes the informal discussions of the “hands on” activities. Markers have been placed in the video for easy scrub through.

WRDSB Learns 2016

This has been an amazing week of learning and sharing at WRDSB. Under the leadership of the Digital Learning Steering committee a 3 day event was planned to involve a team from each school attending one of the six half day events to reflect on current status, attend breakout sessions to look at new, innovative and engaging practices, and consider next best steps on a site by site basis.

I invite you to check out the learning captured through the  Storify  of the twitter stream from the 3 days.

I will be sharing my learning through a series of upcoming blog posts. Additional events will be planned in the WRDSB Learns series this year.
